Send money using our Next Day Service and you'll save money on transfer fees. Your money will be available for collection on the next working day after you make the transfer. E.g. If you send money from the UK on a Tuesday, it can be collected during business hours on the Wednesday.
How to SEND money
Sending money from an agent location is convenient and generally all you need to do is follow this simple steps:
- (1) Go to your nearest Western Union agent location and fill in the ‘To Send Money’ form.

- (2) Give the agent the completed form along with the money you wish to send, the appropriate transfer fee and (generally for transactions of £600 and over) an identification document.
- (3 )The agent will enter the information in the computer system or will phone Western Union Contact Centre.
- (4) You will receive your copy of the ‘To Send Money’ form along with a Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN*).
- (5) Call the receiver (the person picking up the funds) to tell him/her the amount of money sent and the MTCN*.
- The form is certified by the Sender’s signature and the sending agent.
*The MTCN is a mandatory requirement for payout in the UK, France, China, Nigeria, Korea, India and Pakistan. In other countries, knowing the MTCN will help facilitate the receive money process and make it quicker for the receiving customer.

How to RECEIVE money
Receiving money with Western Union in the UK
You can pick up money that you’ve been sent through Western Union at any of our 4,000+ agents throughout the UK. To find your nearest agent in the UK, click here.
How to pick up your money:
(a) Visit your nearest Western Union Agent and Fill in the “To Receive Money” Form with the following information:
1. The correct Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN)*.
2. Your full name and current/permanent address in the UK.
3. The full name of the sender.
4. The originating country of the transaction.
5. The approximate amount that was sent.
The form is certified by the Recipient’s signature and the Receiving agent.
(b) Give the Western Union agent the form and valid identification document.
(c). The agent will give you the money and a receipt.
* The MTCN is now a mandatory requirement for payout in the UK. If you are the receiver, please ensure that you have obtained the correct MTCN from the sender prior to collecting at an agent location. Without the MTCN we will not be able to pay your money out.
